Armored & Non-Armored Ring Type PTFE Spacers

Updated On: 6/16/2026

Key Takeaways: Armored & Non-Armored Ring Type PTFE Spacers

  • PTFE spacers support proper bolt loading by helping maintain even gasket compression in lined piping systems.
  • Armored styles add structural support with a carbon steel ring surrounding a PTFE insert.
  • Non‑armored PTFE spacers offer full corrosion resistance for highly aggressive media.
  • Custom machining options allow precise control of thickness, diameter, and geometry for specialized applications.

Armored & Non-Armored Ring Type PTFE Spacers

PTFE spacers are used to fill gaps in PTFE lined piping systems up to 3″ in length.  SEMCOR can fabricate armored ring type PTFE spacers and non-armored PTFE ring type spacers in our machine shop facility. Armor is painted carbon steel with a PTFE ring type insert. Non-armored style is PTFE. Full face type spacers and other materials are available upon request.

Ring type PTFE spacers also help maintain proper bolt loading across lined piping systems, especially in installations where flange faces are not perfectly aligned. By filling the gap with a stable, chemically resistant material, these spacers support even gasket compression and reduce the chance of leaks caused by uneven seating. This is particularly useful in systems that cycle through temperature changes, where expansion and contraction can affect joint integrity.

Another advantage is the ability to tailor spacer dimensions to match unique piping layouts or specialty equipment. SEMCOR’s machining capabilities allow for variations in thickness, ID/OD sizing, and ring geometry, giving engineers flexibility when retrofitting older systems or designing new assemblies. This customization ensures that each spacer integrates smoothly with the surrounding components and maintains consistent performance under demanding service conditions.
